Working with an AI coding assistant

AI coding assistants have become part of my daily work. They don't replace knowing the code base, but used well they speed up the boring parts and leave more time for the decisions that matter.

Where it helps the most

  • Finding the cause of a bug in code I haven't touched in a while.
  • Repetitive changes across many files.
  • A second look at my own changes before I commit them.

What stays my job

I still decide what gets built and how, and I review every change before it goes live. The assistant is fast, but it only knows what I tell it about the project and the people who use it.

Closing thoughts

Treat the assistant like a quick new colleague: give it clear instructions, check its work, and it will save you hours every week.
